Collective Soul, Live, and Our Lady Peace ignite Charlotte crowd

It was a beautiful night in Charlotte at Skyla Amphitheater filled with rock n roll. First up was Our Lady Peace. They were celebrating 30 years of Our Lady Peace with a release of Whatever that has a much deeper meaning these days. Hailing from Canada it’s always a treat to get to see them in the states and the Charlotte crowd clamored for more as they unfortunately had shorter time slot. Frontman Raine Maida addressed the crowd saying they would be going on a headlining tour next year and wanted to make Charlotte a stop as we obviously missed them.

Next up was Live. This is far the most energetic set I’ve seen from the band over the years. Ed Roland seemed to be taking the lead from Ed Roland and even came down and gave us one of my favorite shots of the night. The crowd of all ages really enjoyed their electrifying set, even the ones just peeping their heads above the barricade.

Live

Collective Soul closed out the night. Frontman Ed Roland came out dressed for the occasion in his usual fashion and covered in glitter and a skull top cane. If you’ve never seen them live Ed is a true frontman, something you don’t see as much these days and he has not slowed down. As someone that grew up listening to Dosage I owe them a great deal of gratitude as they also lead me to discover another one of my favorite bands, one song really can change your life kids. The set was a great mix of their hits and songs covering most of their albums. The band was the tightest I have seen hitting all the riffs and harmonies that make them stand the test of time.
