Coheed and Cambria and Mastodon, w/ special guest Periphery bring “The Infinite Arc Tour” to Red Hat Amphitheater 5/13/25

On May 13, 2025, Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater will host “The Infinite Arc Tour,” featuring co-headliners Coheed and Cambria and Mastodon, with special guests Periphery. This tour brings together three influential bands known for their contributions to progressive and alternative metal.

Coheed and Cambria, hailing from Nyack, New York, have carved a niche with their fusion of progressive rock, alternative rock, and post-hardcore elements. Their music often intertwines complex narratives, notably the science fiction saga “The Amory Wars,” penned by lead vocalist and guitarist Claudio Sanchez. Their eleventh studio album, “Vaxis – Act III: The Father of Make Believe,” released in 2025, continues this tradition of intricate storytelling set to dynamic compositions.

Atlanta-based Mastodon has garnered acclaim for their eclectic blend of progressive metal, sludge metal, and alternative metal. Critics have lauded them as “one of the preeminent metal acts of the early 21st century,” with Rolling Stone highlighting their status as “the most important new band in metal.” Their discography showcases a commitment to evolving their sound while maintaining a signature intensity.

Opening the evening is Periphery, a band recognized for pioneering the “djent” movement within progressive metal. Their technical precision and innovative approach have positioned them at the forefront of modern progressive metal. Their self-produced albums reflect a dedication to pushing the boundaries of the genre.
