The “Seasons 21st Anniversary Tour” hit The Ritz in Raleigh, NC, on September 22, 2024, and for a night, the venue transformed into a headbanger’s paradise. The tour is Sevendust’s sonic celebration of their 2003 album Seasons, an alt-metal classic that bridged post-grunge sensibilities with nu-metal grit. With this tour, Sevendust not only revisits the explosive tracks of Seasons but reminds us why they remain metal titans after more than two decades. The tour, scheduled to rage across 25 U.S. cities, started in Nashville and will culminate in Sevendust’s hometown of Atlanta on October 25th, 2024. It’s a pilgrimage of sweat, sound, and six-strings—one that fans will never forget.

Opening the night was Michigan’s Horizon Theory, a band that brought their local flavor of progressive hard rock with just enough punch to get the early crowd moving. Consisting of Eric Kolar (vocals), Jimmy McCullen (guitar), and Mike Hennessy (drums), Horizon Theory has been steadily climbing the rock ranks, riding high off their debut Fade (2022). Their mix of melodic hooks and pummeling riffs set the tone for the night. The band’s set had the crowd moshing and headbanging, priming the room for the devastation to come. Check them out at Horizon Theory Official and dive into their debut EP while picking up some of their skull-heavy merch.

Next came Return to Dust, the Ohioan wrecking crew that emerged like a storm cloud with their massive, groovy breakdowns. The band, comprising Josh Trimboli (vocals), Mike Tumolo (guitar), Jason Boyce (bass), and Ryan Wykoff (drums), play metalcore with the kind of aggression that makes you want to throw a fist through a wall. Their album The Blackened Sun (2023) is proof that they’ve fine-tuned their venomous style. Songs like “Falling Ashes” had the pit surging with a fury, and crowd surfers were riding the waves like metal warriors. Hit them up at Return to Dust and grab a T-shirt emblazoned with their skeletal logo before they sell out on tour.

10 Years, the alt-metal veterans from Knoxville, TN, followed up, delivering a polished set that felt like a sonic juggernaut. Jesse Hasek (vocals), Brian Vodinh (guitar), Matt Wantland (guitar), Chad Huff (bass), and Luke Narey (drums) are riding high on their 2020 album Violent Allies but took the crowd back with old favorites like “Wasteland” and “Fix Me” from The Autumn Effect (2005). Their energy was unmatched, and by now, crowd surfers were aplenty, hands and feet flailing above a sea of metalheads. Their more ethereal moments gave the room some breathing space before Sevendust took the stage. Check out 10 Years for their full discography and some killer vinyls.

Finally, Sevendust—the heavyweights themselves—hit the stage with the ferocity of a band still hungry to prove themselves after 21 years of Seasons. Frontman Lajon Witherspoon’s soaring vocals clashed perfectly with Clint Lowery’s (guitar) bone-crunching riffs, while John Connolly (guitar), Vince Hornsby (bass), and Morgan Rose (drums) pounded through hits like “Enemy” and “Disgrace.” The encore of “Face to Face” had fans screaming until their throats bled. Their official site offers a treasure trove of tour-exclusive merch—from limited-edition vinyl to vintage Seasons-themed hoodies. Ending the night in a flurry of sweat and electricity, it’s no wonder Sevendust still reigns supreme after all these years. The Seasons anniversary tour is a full-circle celebration, and Raleigh? Well, Raleigh got one hell of a show.
