On a very hot, very muggy night at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, NC, rock fans gathered for the tour’s opening show. Unfortunately, due to waiting for the repairman to fix my air conditioning at home, I missed the opener, Fit For A King. But I did make it in time to catch the following acts that turned the night into an unforgettable experience.

First up was Hollywood Undead, and they wasted no time igniting the crowd with their unique blend of hip-hop and rock. Charlie Scene, Danny, Funny Man, J-Dog, and Johnny 3 Tears took the stage with a fervor that only they can muster, delivering a set that showcased their latest album, “Hotel Kalifornia.” Their masks reflected the raw energy emanating from the crowd, each song blending old favorites and new tracks into a tapestry of sound that set the perfect tone for the night. As the night deepened, Halestorm, led by the indomitable Lzzy Hale, took over. With Joe Hottinger on guitar, Josh Smith on bass, and Arejay Hale on drums, the band delivered a blistering set that drew heavily from their latest album, “Back From The Dead.” Lzzy’s powerhouse vocals cut through the night air, and the band’s tight musicianship kept the crowd entranced from start to finish. Each song was a raw, emotional journey, and by the end of their set, the audience was left breathless and craving more. Dive into Halestorm’s world at halestormrocks.com.

The climax of the evening came with I Prevail, who closed the night with a performance that can only be described as a sonic onslaught. Frontmen Brian Burkheiser and Eric Vanlerberghe delivered a dual vocal attack that was perfectly complemented by Steve Menoian and Dylan Bowman’s guitar work and Gabe Helguera’s relentless drumming. Their latest release, “True Power,” thundered through the amphitheater, each track a testament to the band’s evolution and energy. As the night came to a close, the audience knew they had witnessed the start of a tour that would be talked about for years to come. For more on I Prevail, visit iprevailband.com.
