What a great way to bring in the new year! I have to say this was the best New Years Party I have ever been to..’cause I was sober? That had to make a difference, but sharing it with our tight knit group of crazy music photographers in the pit at PNC Arena in Raleigh made it the perfect way to spend the evening.

The Great Marcus King opened the show with an outstanding and majestic performance of his special blend of blues boogie rock making the night tasty, and musically superlative. The fans where whipping up into a frenzy, ready to ride the night high into the very last second of 2023.

Seth Avett opens their set with panache

Headliners The Avett Brothers charged on and executed a magnificent performance wowing their fans in the packed arena. This was my first time covering the Avetts, and my understanding is that this is a North Carolina tradition for them to undergo such a spectacle each and every New Years Eve here in Raleigh or Greensboro.
