You know what? It was a privilege to witness the brilliance of Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats with support from Sierra Ferrell at Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh, North Carolina.

When you see all the ornery music photographers in the pit with big smiles on their faces, you know the band has the magic.  Nathaniel Rateliff’s performance was really out of this world. This guy has a superior band “The Night Sweats” backing him up which delivered powerful and sublime interpretations of folk,  Americana and vintage rhythm & blues. 

Some performers you want to see over and over again…it’s that magic I was talking about…lightening in a bottle. That’s what we witnessed.

Sierra Ferrell

Sierra Ferrell is a singer, songwriter, and musician from West Virginia whose music incorporates elements of country, gypsy jazz, folk, and Latin styles such as tango and calypso music.

Sierra Ferrell opened the show and wow, did she knock us all out. As I was walking out to my car after her set, I just felt so sorry for the folks just coming in, “skipping the opener” having no idea what they just missed…and paid for!

Sierra Ferrell is absolutely outstanding…and unique. you’ll hear sound that wakes up those dormant neural transmitters in your head and you’ll just start swinging like a bird on a coconut.
