It was time to get back to the roots with one of my favorite blues /rock bands ZZ Top at Coastal Credit Union Music park at Walnut Creek.

And it was fun checking out what all the new members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd were all about too.

Both bands have mastered their signature sound, but of both, only two (of ZZ Top’s line up) were actually original members. In any case, I dearly thank ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, vocalist and guitarist, and Frank Beard, drummer for bringing their Bluesy Boogie Rock to Raleigh to grace my ears. My hats off to Elwood Francis which is doing a great job filling in for deceased Dusty Hill’s spot in the band.
