What a glorious and “Golden” night for outdoor live music at Red Hat Amphitheatre in Raleigh! Madison Cunningham was wonderful as the opener. Madison is beautiful, has a wonderful voice, thoughtful lyrics and has very dapper and talented band members!  Wonder where we will see them next?

“Where to Begin”, for those of you who are not familiar with My Morning Jacket (MMJ), they have a very loyal following. The faces on the rail were familiar, glowing, grinning from ear-to-ear, jumping, dancing and head banging for 2.5hrs straight. The enthusiasm, intensity and sense of family was so very strong.

If you are not familiar with MMJ, there is NO WAY you could have not walked away from this show unimpressed. Why? Because their loyal fans were completely blown away with the performance.  Between new music (“Love Love Love”) and revitalized oldies like Steam Engine and Wordless Chorus, it was non-stop amazing. The crowd did go wild during a rare mid-show “One Big Holiday” (OBH) (traditionally a show closer); not to mention the actual closer “Mahgeetah”; a rare OBH and Mahgeetah performance in one show.

Best part of the show? Seeing how much fun the fans and more importantly the band members enjoyed themselves. It’s apparent MMJ is off to a great concert tour and feeling very “Lucky to Be Alive”!  Highly recommend finding them on a show or 10 on their extensive tour this year.
