Christone “Kingfish” Ingram | Rissi Palmer 3/8/2022

This is about lineage. Line Age. If one looks at things through a certain lens, one might be able to detect a flow of thoughts, and feelings transmitted throughout the ages, and in this case, it’s the Blues.

It’s been said that there are certain sounds that can only be heard in the playing of classical Indian sitar or blues guitar. And it’s fun to listen and compare these two forms to pick out exactly what these rare sounds are. Where Classical Indian music may be celebrating an Awareness, in the case of the Blues, there seems something more grounded…the struggle for life, the soul of the earth.

It’s in the feel. And this is what one may feel when listening to Christine “Kingfish” Ingram. So we can relax a bit, knowing that Kingfish is part of the lineage, transmitting the Blues to this and future generations.

The show was opened by Rissi Palmer, a wonderful country artist that has recently moved to Durham NC, so we can now proudly call her one of our own local artists. A great voice. A fine choice to open this great show at the acoustically par excellence venue DPAC of Durham, NC.
