Modest Mouse | Empath  10/21/21

Empath worked their magic on my photo beingness, it’s written all over in the pictures. Hard to put into words, but sometimes as one peers through the view finder one loses oneself and becomes the image. I heard someone say once, that to know your lenses, first you become the lens, then the lens becomes you. It’s true in a way. There is no time to think in concert photography. Things are moving too quick. you don’t know what’s happening with the light. You just have to get inside of it all and be there. You have to be an Empath.

Once Modest Mouse took hold of the stage things moved into a more technical realm and it was all about trying to get a decent exposure. I brought along a pair of almost matching lenses, a 24-105 f4 that I had set up for bright light, and a 24-70 f2.8 with settings for darker light. In my preparations I noticed that the light went up between songs, so I was ready. Still a tough shoot. But I think the vibe is present.
